Most frequent questions and answers
Patients who have lost their moustache due to accidents, surgery, scars or burns, medical conditions, genetic causes or are suffering from no moustache growth at all can choose moustache transplant. If a patient has a medical condition such as alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia, or certain metabolic conditions that result in the loss of eyebrow hair, they may need further medical consultation to ensure the possibility of hair regrowth following the transplant procedure.
The usual recovery time for moustache transplant is a few days. Small crusts will appear around each transplanted hair, post procedure. These crusts should be softly rinsed while washing the face or taking shower. It takes around 3 – 4 weeks for the transplanted moustache hair to fall off completely. The new natural hair from the planted grafts will start appearing after 2 – 3 months.
Patients usually experience little or no discomfort following a moustache transplant. You should be able to get back to routine activities & work on the following day, although you should abstain from exhausting exercise for a few days to avoid & minimize any swelling.
